hi, it's nice to meet you!
i am a maker of many things.
as a human and designer, i am focused on evoking passion, innovation and meaning by design.
born in toronto, canada with a b.f.a in fibers from the savannah college of art and design, my background primarily is in print and pattern, textile, and colour design. working in both menswear and womenswear fields in new york city, i am now based in toronto and continue to be inspired by merging worlds and creating wearable art for everyone.
the appreciation for materiality and construction is at the heart of my work where fine craft, fine design and fine art intertwine. aiming to challenge the ways that we create and consume, circular design serves as a key hallmark in my work, with creativity stemming from exploration and invention of making something from nothing. appreciating small moments in life that are often overlooked and under appreciated, my work serves as a means for eliciting joy and hope for a world and ways of creating that is more intentional and meaningful.
working in the present, thinking towards the future.
at art shtuff by hannah sandler, all products are handmade and designed with pre-loved materials and a circular framework.
grounded in intentional and thoughtful design, art shtuff by hannah sandler turns pre-loved and overlooked materials and garments into one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories. we make thoughtfully designed clothing that are made to be worn, kept and loved again and again. the name art shtuff first came to be in 2020, initially intending to be a playful exploration of all things made something from nothing. today, the same meaning holds true as art shtuff by hannah sandler celebrates all the ways in which we can create, reimagine and continue to push the boundaries of what we deem as valuable and precious.
art shtuff works on a small-batch production basis, but also takes commissions to rework pieces you already have in your closet. email artshtuffbyhannahsandler@gmail.com for all special orders and commission requests.
